CAFE RETAIL ASSISTANT

Yangan Cash & Carry are seeking an outgoing, focused and reliable individual to join our friendly team as a Café Retail Assistant in a casual position.

About Us

Yangan Cash & Carry (YCC) is a family-owned and run country cafe and small convenience store located in Yangan, QLD (just 15 minutes outside of Warwick). For over 17 years of managing YCC, we have been solely dedicated to our local community by employing and supporting local consumers and suppliers and providing a memorable experience for tourist friends.

About the role

We are looking for a friendly, hands-on and confident café/retail allrounder to assist our small business to continue providing convenience and café services to our local and tourist communities.

You will:

  • Have experience working in the retail and/or hospitality industry,
  • Have an ability to add value to our customer experience,
  • Work well within a small team,
  • Multi-task during busy service periods, and
  • Confidently communicate, lead and input your ideas when necessary.

Role requirements (qualifications and experience):

  • At least 2 years of retail and/or hospitality experience (*your application will be viewed highly if you have experience with cooking)
  • Point of sales system experience with sound computer skills
  • Great customer service skills
  • Willing to work in all aspects of front of house and kitchen
  • Work within a team setting or unsupervised
  • You must be available to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week, including weekends from time to time
  • You must have a valid driver’s licence and your own reliable vehicle

Tasks and responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Operating a cash register and point of sales systems
  • Customer service
  • Taking food and beverage orders (including taking phone orders)
  • Cooking and preparing food and beverages (both takeaway and dine-in meals)
  • Stock management and control
  • Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness practices throughout the store
  • Cleaning and other ad hoc workplace duties, as required
